DABWAHA Bracket Is Ready

The 64 finalists have been picked.  The books have been seeded.  The match ups set.  The competition begins today.  From today through Wednesday, you fill out your bracket.  Click here.

The goal in filling out your bracket is guessing which book will win the head to head matchup.  In the Region 1, we have historicals and crossover novels.  The eight historicals will compete against each other and the eight crossover novels will compete with each other.  For example, the historicals are set up in this fashion:

historical seeds

Silk is for Seduction by Loretta Chase is competing against The Amorous Education of Celia Seaton.  Click on the name of the book you think will win that round and the computer program will advance the book for you.

Round one explanation part two

In this example, I have chosen Silk is for Seduction to beat The Amorous Education of Celia Seaton and A Lady’s Lesson in Scandal overcoming One Night is Forever.

In the second round, Silk is for Seduction and A Lady’s Lesson in Scandal meet up against each other and I have (for the purposes of this example, picked A Lady’s Lesson in Scandal to win.

Please click around and you’ll get a sense of how this pick sheet works.  You can resubmit your bracket any time before Wednesday 11:59 am EST.  Don’t forget to enter a tie breaker number which is the number of reader nominations sent in for the final slot.

If you have any questions at all, please tweet us @jane_l or @smartbitches or email me jane@dearauthor.com.  I will walk you through the bracket.  In other words, don’t let the bracket intimidate you if you want to participate.

  2. My only wish is we could see the author name (or better still book covers) as we select. I know that’s beyond the program’s capabilities, but at times I can’t keep them straight.

Thanks for all of your hard work putting the tournament together, Jane. You rock!

  3. What in the world is “the number of reader nominations sent in for the final slot?” the number of people who entered brackets this year? The number of people who did a write in vote for a particular book? I’m confused.

  5. Right. It is just a tie breaker. We have never had a tie before but if two people would have the same exact bracket, we would use the tie breaker to determine the winne.

  6. @libraryaddict. I know. I wish I could just fit it in the entire name f the book. Does it help to print out the bracket and look at the finalist list ?

  7. Do we have to be registered somewhere to fill out a bracket. I tried filling it out, but my name wasn’t in the popup box, so it wouldn’t let me continue.

  8. The tie breaker box is only letting me put in a 3 digit number, is there any way for me to guess higher than 999?

  9. Jane I am a newbie. I have clicked and picked until I have ended up with 4 books in round five…2 on each side but no matter what I press I can’t fill the final red box. I end up with two books listed on round six out of four books in round 5. I have filled in the tie break but when I hit submit it says no. Not sure what I am doing wrong? Sorry….

  10. @Fiona Lowe When you end up with two books in round 6, you need to pick a winner. The winner will appear below the two books and above the tie break box.

  12. Thanks for letting me know about the tie breaker #, that’s a lot smaller than I would have guessed! New question- I wanted to revise my bracket, but my name isn’t on the pop-up list. I did have a copy mailed to me when I submitted it, so I’m pretty sure it went through… Is there just a time delay on getting the names up, or am I misunderstanding something?

  13. @Kate G – There is a delay. I download the entries in batches and then upload the picks. I usually do this about 6 x a day but today was out all day for real work. I will be pushing an update in about a half an hour.

  14. “Real work”, pshaw, nothing should be more important than this! :) I appreciate all the work that goes into DABWAHA- it’s really fun!

  15. I am bummed. I read it as 11:59pm too. Is there anyway to still do this? It was kind of confusing, especially in the west coast;)
