You can shop for these books in our DABWAHA store (the revenues earned go to funding prizes and maintaining the tournament). You may notice that there are only 7 books in each category. This is because the 8th book is determined by you. Fill out the form to enter your nominations. Remember, only 2011 books qualify.
No YA category this time?
@Loz – that was my mistake. I forgot to put them in.

OMG, my pretty privateer is a finalist! Yes! Sea Change is a contender, and you voters know you want more piracy (with guaranteed washed and clean smelling pirates) in your life! Vote for my historical!
@Jane- Thanks! Sorry to be a pain again, but it looks like the store still has last year’s books in it. Also, it looks like the Jane Graves book is listed as “Heartstrings and Diamond Rings” on Goodreads and Amazon, rather than “Heart Strings”- might make it easier for folks to find. (Again, sorry to bother you!)
@Loz – not a bother at all. I’ve changed the Graves title. Our intern is working feverishly to build the store. I’d give it a day?
@Darlene Marshall – Congratulations!

My search shows the Sarah Mayberry book as published in November 2010. There is a Sarah Mayberry book published in Nov. 2011 (All That They Need) which I really liked. Maybe you meant to nominate that one?
The Harlequin website says that Best Laid Plans by Sarah Mayberry was published in November 2010.
If I have 2 different books to enter in the same category, are we allowed to fill out the nomination form multiple times?
@Kim – No, sorry, one nomination form per person.
@Lynnd and @JacquiC – I’m checking with SB Sarah. She said it was the book with the red umbrella. I might have gotten the name wrong.
Wow, just got back from a “stuck-on-a-school-bus-with-forty-yelling-kids” field trip with my 9-year-old, to discover this Most Awesome news! Very honoured. Thanks!
Not sure I’ll be any better at the trash talking this year than I was last year, when Kate Elliott wiped the floor with me, but I’m willing to give it a go…
I consulted with Sarah and she agreed I could substitute All They Need which is a book I liked immensely. Thanks for the heads up guys.
If I may make a suggestion–yet again, “GLBT” is a misleading name for that category. In the past few years, I think there’s been one lesbian entry. Perhaps just call it Gay Romance or else make sure you’ve got all four letters represented?
Ohmygoodness! I’m so honored SOPHIE & CARTER is novella finalist! Wow! *takes a deep breath* I have no idea how the tournament works, but I’m super excited to play! Whoo-hoo!
This is my first DABWAHA. Can we get some definitions for these categories? Does a Fantasy romance fall under “Paranormal/UF/SFR” (does that stand for Urban Fantasy/SciFi Romance, I assume). I think I understand what “Crossover” means, but what is “NwRE.” Can we nominate m/m romance (which can be paranormal, fantasy, YA, etc., etc.) for categories other than GLTB, or only hetero stuff?

Congrats to all finalists!
um…so I guess be careful about re-clicking Submit or using the Refresh button when the website does not appear to be responding.
I was sitting in a meeting strategizing auction marketing when I got the email saying Vienna Waltz is a finalist. What a fabulous surprise and a lovely honor – I’m thrilled.

Bookstorecat,
My m/m romance, If It Ain’t Love, is in the novella category.
And thank you, DA, for including me in the DABWAHA finalists. One of the best moments of my writing career, no matter how it turns out. I’m excited and honored to be in such magnificent company, too.
If changes can be made on nomination form, can I change my paranormal pick to the crossover category. I didn’t know what Crossover was, so I nominated Deanna Raybourn under Paranormal. I ‘d already used my pick for historical. My entry email is same as here.
I am…honored is putting it mildly! I’ve been a fan of the dabwaha for a few years now — it’s so much fun and a great way to find new books. Never never never did it occur to me I might have a book in the game one day! Holy smokes! I’m still waiting for the email apologizing for the error, that Trail of the Tudor Blue should not be a finalist. The finalist slot was meant to go to Trail of the Tutor’s Shoe. So sorry for the confusion – lol! Really, I’m stunned and so so so humbled by my fabulous fellow nomin….err….doomed competition. Yup, seriously going to have to work on that whole trash talk thing.
In short — thanks to Jane and Sarah and all the reviewers at Dear Author. THIS IS AWESOME!!!
Tamara,
Too late, I wanted to put in a nomination for a novella, in fact–but you can only fill out the form once, and I already did it last night to write-in a Paranormal & a GLBT novel.
Looking forward to reading your novella.
Hello,
I can’t wait for the voting to begin! Unfortunately as I was typing in my entry, my cat stepped on the keyboard and it sent through an incomplete entry and now I can’t enter my choices
What can I do to send them through to you guys? It’ll be the form that’s only got the title in the Sci-Fi/Paranormal field particially filled in.
Thanks
Sarah
Just an FYI: The nomination form does not accept the letter X (which some ISBNs have) or the hyphen (if you are entering an ISBN-13).
I discovered this when I was nominating “Just Like Heaven” by Julia Quinn. I was shocked, just shocked, that this book didn’t make the list! When I reviewed the books I read that were published in 2011, this is the only book for which I had this one-word comment: “Splendid.”
So, even if it doesn’t make the tournament list, I definitely recommend it for reading!
Thank you Dear Authors & Smart Bitches for the nomination! I’m honored to be part of a truly excellent line up of books and authors.
Oh my goodness! What an honour – thank you!!
